Breakfast With The Butterflies
As the morning sun warms the Butterfly Garden, hundreds of tropical butterflies begin their daily activities. Come start your day with the butterflies. Meet a butterfly keeper who will share the secrets of butterfly watching in the garden and in the wild while you enjoy a continental breakfast. After breakfast you will go behind the scenes to learn about the butterfly farms in Costa Rica and El Salvador that raise our butterflies, as well as how the butterflies get to us. You will even have a chance to prepare chrysalises for display and release new butterflies in the Garden, just like our zookeepers. You will also learn about the Zoo's conservation projects for our own Michigan Butterflies and how you can help attract and protect the butterflies in your own backyard or neighborhood. The morning will "flutter" by, but the memories will last forever.
Breakfasts take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Groups must consist of a minimum of four people and are limited to eight people. An adult must accompany children under age fifteen. "Breakfast with the Butterflies" is offered Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Breakfast with the Butterflies is $75.00 per person, $50.00 for Potawatomi Zoological Society members. For more information, or to schedule one of these fantastic tours please contact the Potawatomi Zoological Society office at 574-288-4639. |
