The blue-and-gold macaw, also known as blue-and-yellow macaw, is a large species of parrot. Blue-and-gold macaws breed in the swampy tropical rainforests of South America from Panama south to Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay. Although classed as ‘Least Concern’ by the IUCN, the blue-and-gold macaw is an endangered species in Trinidad. The blue-and-gold macaw is very intelligent and is often trained to talk, mimic sounds, or follow other behavioral directions.
