Diet: Small microtine rodents and deer mice

Habitat: Open mixed woodlands, deciduous forests, wooded and suburban areas in East North American.

The owl spends the day roosting in holes or in dense cover, becoming active at dusk. Despite the name, screech owls do not screech. They communicate with whinnies and soft trills.
