Junior Naturalist Classes
All Junior Naturalist Classes are currently full! Registration for Spring Classes will open in early January.
Looking for activities over Winter Break? The Zoo will hold Winter Break Camps for ages 4-12. Junior Naturalist camp (ages 4-6) will take place on January 2 from 9:00-12:00. Additional information and registration can be found on our ZooCamps page.
Classes are $10 for Zoo members and $15 for non-members. Please note that these classes are drop-off and pick-up.
Fall Series: From The Books of Eric Carle
Class time: 10:00-11:30 am
From The Very Hungry Caterpillar to Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See, Eric Carle has written and illustrated many influential children’s stories. This fall, we’ll focus on three of his stories and how they relate to animals.
◦ Saturday, September 8–Class Full
In the story, Today is Monday, many animals feast on a variety of silly foods. But what do animals really eat? Come learn about animals’ diets: what they eat in the wild, and what they eat at the zoo. Do they eat the same things as you?
◦ Saturday, October 13–Class Full
In the story, Have You Seen My Cat, a boy has lost his cat. He comes across many wild cat species on his search to find his beloved pet. Have you seen our cats? Join us as we learn about our captivating cat species here at the zoo!
◦ Saturday, November 10–Class Full
In the story, Slowly, Slowly, Slowly, Said the Sloth, the sloth is pestered by other animals that want him to be faster and more energetic. But sloths are supposed to be slow! Come learn about sloths, their adaptations, and other characteristics.
