The Potawatomi Zoo will host its next Roars & Pours Family Night on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 5:30 to 8 pm. Zoo members will receive free admission to the July 11 Roars & Pours, as well as a free ride on the Endangered Animals Carousel and Potawatomi Express train.

There will be fun activities for the whole family, including a showing of Zootopia in the field near the Otter Outpost at 6:00 pm. The first 1,000 Zoo members will receive a free bag of popcorn to enjoy with the movie. The movie and popcorn are provided thanks to Lake City Bank.

Zoo keepers will present several new animal experiences on July 11: North American porcupine at 5:45 pm, red panda at 6:30 pm, and Chacoan peccary at 7:15 pm. These experiences may include listening to the zoo keepers talk about the animals and watching zoo keepers feed the animals or offer them enrichment.

There will also be a special build-your-own non-alcoholic beverage available for $1 near the Chill Zone in front of Red Barn. Round Barn Winery, Brewery, & Distillery will be providing tastings: wine cocktails in front of the Red Barn and beer tastings on the Dragonfly Deck. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the Round Barn brewer, Malkam Wyman, and learn about brewing at 6:15 and 7:15 pm.

Another new event this month will be improv on the Alligator Deck with the South Bend Civic Theatre. We’re happy to welcome them back to the Zoo!

The usual activities will be set up in the center of the Zoo near the leopards. The Potawatomi Zoo American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) will have a table with unique items for sale to raise money for animal conservation. DJ Jayson Smith will be playing music and U-93 will broadcast live from the Zoo. “Behind the Mask” will have face painting. Tickets for face painting are $7 and can be purchased at the front entrance, gift shop, or train ticket booth.

Regular attractions and amenities, such as the Congo Café, Gift Shop, Learning Center, Potawatomi Express train, and Endangered Species carousel will be open during Roars & Pours Family Nights.

Admission for Roars & Pours Family Nights is $5 per person 15 and up, $1 for children 3-14, and free for babies 2 and under. Tickets for all Roars & Pours events are available for pre-sale at any local Martin’s Supermarket or the Zoo admission booth. Tickets to Roars & Pours are also available in the South Bend Summer Pass, which can be purchased from Downtown South Bend’s website, dtsb.com. There is a special entrance for pre-sale ticket holders.

The Roars & Pours Family Night series is sponsored by U-93 and Round Barn Winery, Brewery, & Distillery.
