POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Food Service and Retail Manager, participates in the daily operation of the zoo’s adult beverage and food service departments.  Does related work as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Taking beverage orders from customers or wait staff and serving drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail
  • Checking identification to verify legal age requirement for ALL customers
  • Verifying accurate cash counts and handling daily sales records and sales receipts
  • Knowledge of operating cash registers, credit card machines and accurate cash handling
  • Satisfying patron requests in a timely manner
  • Assessing customer preferences and making drink recommendations
  • Keeping a well-stocked bar with adequate supply of beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, glassware and other accessories
  • Cleaning the bar, tables, chairs and work area to maintain a sanitary environment
  • Organizing the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory
  • Preparing and serving appetizers, snacks or other food items for customers at the bar
  • Complying with all food and beverage regulations
  • Communicate with supervisors/management on items in need of ordering
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Training or experience with bartending and knowledge of product we offer a plus (beer, wine, food, etc.), strong communication skills, positive attitude, personal demeanor, multitasking, attention to detail, organization, ability to stand for long periods, ability to lift up to 30 pounds, strong observational skills, conflict resolution and money handling.  Ability to read, write, and make mathematical calculations.  Must be personable, self motivated, independent, and responsible.  Good communication skills.  Ability to read and write legibly.  Ability to work flexible hours as needed up to 39 per week.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Indiana Driver’s License or State issued picture ID.   Bartenders/Servers license and/or food service certification a plus.

EQUIPMENT:

Basic knowledge of cash registers, credit card machines and calculator use.  Hand held radios, basic concession equipment including popcorn machines, nacho cheese dispensers, etc.

JOB SUMMARY: The train driver is responsible for providing a safe and memorable experience for our guests by providing an enjoyable ride though the zoo.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • PREPARE THE TRAIN FOR DAILY OPERATION.
  • Inspect the tracks daily before operation the train.
  • Remove and return the train to the garage.
  • Collect tickets from guests riding the train (2 years and under are free).
  • Logging riders on train log sheet/Starting and ending turn-style numbers.
  • Provide narration during the train ride with interesting facts about the zoo.
  • Assist guests getting on and off the train.

NON-ESSENTIAL / MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide ticket stubs to Ticket Booth workers at end of shifts.
  • Clean train station area as needed.
  • Maintain train as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good personal skills.
  • Punch time clock in a timely manner.
  • Relay messages to the public in a professional manner.

This person must have excellent customer service skills. The person hired for this position will be scheduled to work in all areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Selling new memberships and renewing current memberships
  • Selling tickets for the Train, Butterfly exhibit, and Pony rides
  • Checking in current members through the gates
