Have questions about memberships?
Please read through some of our frequently asked questions, and if you don’t find the answer, contact us at membership@potawatomizoo.org or call (574) 235-9800.
Your membership is not transferable, meaning it is for the named adult or adults and, if applicable, the number of children listed on the card. If a named adult with photo ID is not present with the membership card, then the membership cannot be used.
The only exception to this is if your child is coming to the Zoo on a field trip. Your child may use your membership on a field trip to the Potawatomi Zoo, even without a named adult present. To do so, you need to send a membership card (or copy of the membership card) and a copy of one of the named adults’ photo ID with your child.
If you have an unnamed guest as part of your membership, then you may bring in a different person with you for each visit, provided that one of the named adults is there. Unnamed guests cannot come into the Potawatomi Zoo under a membership without a named adult present.
If you have the Family + Caregiver membership, your caregiver must be named on your membership, and the caregiver can come to the Zoo without one of the primary named adults. They will have to show a photo ID.
Yes, your child may use the membership on a field trip to the Potawatomi Zoo, even without a named adult present. To do so, you need to send a membership card (or copy of the membership card) and a copy of one of the named adults’ photo ID with your child. This is the only time a child may use the membership without a named adult present.
The membership entrance door is located on the left side of the new entrance building.
To expedite the check-in process, please have your membership card and the photo IDs of all the named adults present out of your purse and wallet and ready to hand to the admissions attendant.

It can take 3-4 weeks to process and send your cards. In the meantime, if you are an active member, you can show your valid photo ID and receipt of membership at the entrance to access the Zoo. You’ll need a photo ID for all named members who are attending the Zoo at that time.
Your membership at Potawatomi Zoo has many great privileges such as using our Reciprocal Program. This reciprocal program gives you free or discounted admission to many other Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) facilities across the United States and Canada. Make sure you always travel with your membership ID, as membership databases are not linked and they will have no way to verify your membership.
You can check the list of reciprocal zoos on the AZA website, but you should always check with the individual zoo you plan to visit in advance. Reciprocal privileges may be changed without prior notification. The reciprocal institution’s definition of membership levels, which may vary from Potawatomi Zoo’s definition, are applicable to admission.
Reciprocity typically applies to general admission only. It may not include parking, petting zoos, special exhibits, souvenir discounts, rides, special events, or guests.
You can also download the list of reciprocal zoos here.
Your Zoo membership entitles you to discounts on many of our educational programs and online tickets. In order to get your membership discount, you must register on our ticketing site and login BEFORE you begin your transaction. Every page on our transaction site has these three links in the top right. If you’ve already registered, sign in. If you haven’t registered yet, REGISTER HERE before you can receive your member discount.
If you have problems with your membership or our system doesn’t automatically recognize you, please contact membership at (574) 235-9800.

No, attraction passes can only be purchased onsite at the front entrance, gift shop, Attraction Booth or Train Booth. Attraction passes are $30 for 15 rides that can be used on the Potawatomi Express, Endangered Species Carousel, or for Giraffe Feeding.
You can buy a membership that includes a guest, but we no longer offer a stand-alone guest addition to Zoo Memberships.
The memberships that include a guest are Dual (if the guest option is chosen), Grandparents + Guest or Family + Guest. Family + Caregiver includes a NAMED caregiver that can visit the Zoo independently of the named adults on the membership. Otherwise, unnamed guests must be accompanied by a named adult.
There are two options in which you can choose. 1: Show your ID at the membership desk and they will be able to look your membership up or 2: Fill out an Active Membership Change form available at the Membership Counter or call (574) 235-9800. For a $10 fee, you will receive two new travel replacement cards.
Purchasing the replacement cards will not only make your experience at admissions easier, but also much faster! Plus, most of our reciprocal zoo partners require a membership card for reciprocal benefits.
Memberships are non-refundable, non-transferable, and are not valid without the photo ID of listed adults.
We will let you know when it’s time to renew! You will receive two notices by email and one by postal mail.
If you need to update your contact information to make sure you are getting renewal notices, please contact the Zoo at membership@potawatomizoo.org or (574) 235-9800.
You can renew your membership online. Just choose your membership level and make sure to log in to our system (see the links at the top of the page) before you pay. We’ll add a year to your current expiration date.
